- A foreigner might just know more about Maya Universe Academy than many Nepalese. Maya Universe Academy is Nepal’s first free private school and a youth movement to provide free education in rural Nepal.
Education is not everything, but it is one of the easiest way to tackle major social problems. There are growing number of social issues in every society. If we all don’t strive to bring an end, then it will continually grow in size while slowing down one’s efforts towards progression. For the last few years, I’ve been looking into issues in our own Nepalese society. For all, Education is the simplest answer to lead change.
My name is Jensun Yonjan, born in Nepal and currently residing in the United States. I’m the
Creative Director and founder of Lens on Nepal; a video project exploring the work of inspiring leaders’ initiative to enhance Nepal’s education. Our mission is to create visual content on education that educates, informs, and motivates young adults. Young adults are the forefront of the development, and the foundation of every country is the education of its youth. “Four Zero Four Two Three! This is the count of young Nepalese leaving the country in a month. If few youth movement such as Maya Universe Academy can bring the number down to “Four Zero Four Two Two”. Then we might just end up the second number, “Zero” if all of us were involved in improving our Nepal’s education sector.
