About Singer:

Andrew Hozier-Byrne (born 17 March 1990),[1] known professionally by the mononym Hozier, is an Irish musician, singer and songwriter.

Hozier, was born in greystones the son of a local blues musician.

About Video:

The clip begins just like any other, with Hozier performing to a packed crowd in a lush, abandoned venue. The bare bones stage, decorated just with his band and some candles, sets the stage for the stripped down yet touching music video. Though the crowd at first feels fairly inattentive to Hozier's performance, soon the emotion of the track overcomes one couple, who begin a ballroom dance in the middle of the floor.

From there, the dancing spreads throughout the audience, with one couple after another joining in the choreographed movements. As the dancing builds and spreads across the room, it just as quickly comes to an end, with just the original duo holding each other tight as the dripping of Hozier's guitar comes to an end. Like Hozier's other music videos, "Work Song" distinguishes itself by being highly cinematic, adding to the artistry of concepts that could otherwise be too simple.

About Song:

"Work Song" is a song written and performed by Irish musician Hozier. It was released as the fourth single from his debut studio album Hozier (2014). It was released as the album's fifth single to United States rock radio on 16 March 2015.
"The most sincerely emotional track is “Work Song.” The backing of hums that sound as if they come from a working mill and the steady clapping, gospel beat sets the tone for the song. Additionally, these features contribute to the metaphor that Hozier is trying to allude to—the constant cycle of work is worth it because it is for his love; that is what he labors for. Hozier says, "It's just a sad little love song."

Lyrics:

Boys workin' on empty

Is that the kinda way to face the burning heat?

I just think about my baby

I'm so full of love

I could barely eat

There's nothing sweeter than my baby

I'd never want once from the cherry tree

Cause my baby's sweet as can be

She'd give me toothaches just from kissin' me

 [Chorus:]

When, my, time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave, can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her
Boys, when my baby found me
I was three days on a drunken sin
I woke with her walls around me
Nothin' in her room but an empty crib
And I was burnin' up a fever
I didn't care much how long I lived
But I swear I thought I dreamed her
She never asked me once about the wrong I did

 [Chorus x2:]
When, my, time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave, can hold my body down
 I'll crawl home to her
My babe would never fret none
About what my hands and my body done
If the Lord don't forgive me
I'd still have my baby and my babe would have me
When I was kissin' on my baby
And she put her love down soft and sweet
 In the low lamp light
I was free Heaven and hell were words to me

 [Chorus x2:]
When, my, time comes around
Lay me gently in the cold dark earth
No grave, can hold my body down
I'll crawl home to her
